PORTFOLIO > Migrations des Arthropodes, 2012, photo series

Video loops and photographs are documenting the artist's journey as she prepares for global warming. During this process she builds wearable structures with recycled plastic bottles and various containers in order to transform herself into an insect, a species that will thrive with climate change. With the floating apparatus, she is ready to enter the water. In this piece, Paul proposes a reversal of Kafka's Metamorphosis – where being an insect is a tragedy – and presents it here as a strategy or a way to adapt.

Project done during a residency at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) artist in residence program, on Governors Island in New York City.
