This series is in progress.
Process:
First I draw the endangered species, then I collage on the drawing and, using transparencies, I draw on top of the collage with ink. with the collage i introduce human body parts and consumer products: we are responsible for their loss of habitat and decline (pesticides contribute as well) such that by merging the human with insectsI give them a "second life". The position of the legs are as if they are all running in the same direction to escape.

I photograph and clean up the overlapping transparency and print.

I draw a contour line and cut the image and plexiglas to that line.

I will hang them as an installation once i have documented a large number of species of insects at risk. There are over 90 in Canada and also over 90 in the US, a lot of species appearing on both lists.

With this process I have developed empathy for them and I would like to transfer that emotion to the viewer.
